FRANKFORT, Ky. A Kentucky nonprofit wants lawmakers to tackle food insecurity for students. “Feeding Kentucky” has partnered with state representatives to introduce Senate Bill 151 and House Bill 435 to ensure students on free and reduced lunch receive breakfast within the first 15 minutes of class.
More than 300 Kentucky farmers participated in the state’s Farms to Food Banks program last year, and at a recent virtual rally, state officials said they are looking to expand the program to help combat rising food insecurity.
