Dare to Care, Anthem Foundation Issue a Hunger Challenge to Kentuckiana
Dare to Care Food Bank and the Anthem Foundation are teaming up to fill a growing gap in volunteers and dollars needed to feed the rising number of people facing food insecurity in Kentuckiana. The Anthem Foundation has issued the Dollars For Doers Challenge to the entire 13-county region by matching every hour volunteered at Dare to Care through February 12 with a $10 donation.
To participate in the Dollars For Doers Challenge, visit Volunteer.DaretoCare.org or call (502) 966-3821 now through Feb. 12, 2021. Anthem Foundation will automatically match every hour volunteered with a $10 donation to Dare to Care.

Pandemic increasing food insecurity
“Prior to the pandemic and the business closures (which forced) layoffs and furloughs (as a result) from our efforts to stop the spread (of COVID), there were already one-in-seven of our Kentucky neighbors who were dealing with food insecurity. One-in-five of those were children,” Kurt Reiber, Board Chair of Feeding Kentucky, said. “What we have witnessed as a result of the pandemic is an increase in demand of between 35 and 65%, depending on where you live in the commonwealth.” (more…)
