Increase to food stamp benefits could take weight off local food banks
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) — The USDA is preparing to place $2 billion more a month into America’s monthly food stamp payouts. Officials say the move could take a heavy load off the new roles food banks are facing. Currently, the monthly U.S. payout sits at $4.5 billion.
Online SNAP Program Could Increase Food Accessibility In Ohio Valley
Kentucky and West Virginia have recently been added to a federal pilot program to allow food stamp recipients to purchase groceries online, and Ohio Valley anti-hunger advocates say it’s a good move to improve food accessibility amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Legal Community Raises 300,000 Meals
Frankfort, KY– Attorney General Daniel Cameron announced today that the Kentucky legal community raised the equivalent of 300,000 meals through donations of food, funds, and volunteer time during the fourth annual Kentucky Legal Food Frenzy campaign.
