New proposed rule could raise fees more than 1,000% for some Kentucky food producers
FRANKFORT, Ky. — A proposed rule in the Kentucky Department of Public Health would raise the permitting fees for small-scale food producers in the commonwealth. Some producers worry the increase could put them out of business.

Local organizations battle food insecurity during pandemic
When the ACCESS Soup Kitchen and Men’s Shelter had to close in March because of the coronavirus pandemic, the facility still fed the public, passing meals and boxes of food through its doors to those who needed them.
Study Shows State and Local Food Insecurity Reached Lowest Levels Since Study’s Inception 10 Years Ago
Frankfort – June 3, 2020 – After nearly ten years, food insecurity levels for most communities across the country, including Kentucky, had reached their lowest levels in 2018, according to a study released by Feeding America. Map the Meal Gap, released today by Feeding America, is the only study that provides local-level estimates of food insecurity across the United States.
