Hunger Action Month: More than 1 in 10 Kentuckians faces food insecurity
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) – September is Hunger Action Month.
To kick it off, Feeding Kentucky and state leaders gathered at the Capitol Monday to talk about their efforts to fight hunger.
Right now, the front lawn at the Capitol is covered in orange and white flags. Each orange one represents 500 hungry adults. Each white one represents 500 hungry children.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (KT) – Kentucky first lady Britainy Beshear was joined by food advocates and members of Kentucky’s congressional delegation Monday as they kicked off Hunger Action Month during an event on the grounds of the State Capitol.

As anti-hunger advocates gather today at the state Capitol to launch Feeding Kentucky’s Hunger Action Month kickoff, experts say the next Farm Bill — the nation’s largest nutrition and agricultural legislation — will decide the fate of many of the federal food programs Kentuckians rely on.
