In partnership with the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, Feeding Kentucky has been awarded funds to form direct relationships with local and regional producers across the state who are interested in supporting our mission to end hunger.
The Local Food Purchase Assistance (LFPA) Cooperative Agreement Program enhances food security and supports local agricultural economies by partnering with local farmers to supply fresh, nutritious food to communities in need. Its mission is to strengthen local food systems, reduce food waste, and provide sustainable economic opportunities for farmers.
- Support Local Farmers: Purchase directly from local farmers, ensuring fair compensation and encouraging sustainable practices.
- Enhance Food Security: Distribute locally sourced food to reduce hunger and improve access to healthy food.
- Strengthen Local Food Systems: Foster connections between producers and consumers for a resilient food supply chain.
- Reduce Food Waste: Minimize waste by buying surplus and imperfect produce.
Minimum Producer Requirements
- Interested parties shall first fill out and submit an LFPA Participant Agreement Form.
- All meat products (e.g., beef, pork, poultry, lamb, etc.) must be processed by a USDA certified processing facility under inspection, with the applicable stamp/seal.
